It's Thirsty Thursday and I'd like to raise a virtual glass to the "Most interesting man in the world" - a man who "once had an awkward moment, just to see how it felt." This man is described as having cologne-scented blood and the ability to speak French, in Russian. He lived in a cave in the Serengeti upon being gifted a wife and taught a horse to read his e-mail. Do you know who he is?
What if I told you he almost broke the land speed record in 1977 but his beard caused too much wind resistance? How about if I told you he enjoys a Dos Equis now and again, but professes to enjoy wine and spirits as well?
If you haven't had the pleasure of being introduced, check it out. Dos Equis has experienced "double-digit sales gains during a recession that's forced many of its competitors into steep declines," according to Advertising Age, with this brilliant campaign that features a inspirational, mature man speaking modestly about his accomplishments. In many ways, the actor, Jonathan Goldsmith, is reminiscent of Mr. Peterman - remember Elaine's boss on Seinfeld? The writing is equally brilliant and the story equally as entertaining.
Cheers!
