February has been a big month in terms of the Seattle music scene. As we see it come to a close, I thought I'd share what I thought was the most stellar representation of Seattle's creativity and culture this month - the Abraxas fashion show.
I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time to witness this true convergence of Seattle's music, art and fashion. Nestled in the streets of Seattle's SODO neighborhood, Abraxas featured aerial performances to accompany the ear-blasting sounds of local electronic masterminds, as well as a fashion show furnished with clothing by Seattle's own Buddhaful clothing company.
Buddhaful, known for their cutting-edge fashion, but also for their do-gooder track-record, collected more than 800 pounds of food for the Family Works in Wallingford at the event.
Members of Emerald City Trapeze Arts provided jaw-dropping feats of gravity defiance, soaring among the rafters of their sprawling headquarters, at which the event took place.
It was a brilliant display of the thriving Seattle arts scene, which is definitely alive and well.
The event featured many hometown acts including Splatinum (pictured above), Buddhaful's co-founder MattySun and "Live electro space funk" band Surrealized, but also showcased artists from as far as Vancouver, B.C. like iLL.esha (pictured below with Nico Luminous).
And to top it off, here's a glimpse of the fashion show in action:
